My Loot

I'm very late posting this, but here is my loot from the Quilt Guild show almost 2 weeks ago.

From the Guild Boutique and vendors...

I've been wanting a large African Market basket and was delighted to find one I really like.  I immediately started filling it with other purchases.

From the Bits 'n Pieces booth...

You can't tell it from the photo, but I grabbed many small cuts of novelty fabric suitable for fussy cutting.  Over all, I was trying to beef up my stash of neutrals.

On the quilting front, I've transitioned my Jill Finley quilt from the Janome to the HandiQuilter.  I changed my mind about how to quilt the center and did a little frog stitching, but I think I'm on my way now.

Anti-Ouch Pouches -- February 2016

You really can't tell by looking at this photo, but there are 10 anti-ouch pouches waiting to be delivered to our Guild's meeting this morning.

Recovery Day

I spent the last two days working at our local Guild’s biannual quilt show.  It was tremendous fun and all indications are that it was a success.  Today is a much needed recovery day which I will spend working on my hexagon quilt.

If You're in the Area...

I’ll be here for the next two days.  Stop by and visit if you’re in the Hill Country this week.

It's hard to believe I took this picture February 7!

Super Bowl Sunday

Of course I want to join hubby in watching the Super Bowl this evening even if I don’t follow the sport let alone the teams.  So I’m preparing for the event by getting my handwork ready to roll.  My hexagon quilt is slowly but surely growing and it will be my focus tonight.

Back to Quilting

This project has lain dormant for months.  I decided this week to reconfigure the studio for quilting on my Janome and get back to work on it.  I have an HQ sit-down quilter, but prefer to use the walking foot on my Janome for stitching in the ditch.  Hopefully I will finish that stage in the next few days and transition to the other machine.  I’m forcing myself to take frequent breaks while working on this project so as not to put too much stress on my neck and shoulders.  Since it has been so blustery today, I've even used the elliptical, which you can see in the background, rather than taking long walks outside.  My fitness tracker says I'm at 9,999 steps so far today.  So, I think there is a good chance I will make 10,000.

Quilty 365 -- January

Here are the Quilty 365 circle blocks for January.  They are prepped for stitching and will need to be trimmed to 4 ½ inches once that is complete.  I’ve had a lot of fun digging through my scrap stash and orphan blocks, even though I did miss a few days.  I haven’t decided if I am going to machine or hand stitch these blocks.  I am leaning toward machine stitching, but my machine is currently set up for a straight stitching project.  I’m joining the linky party at  Quilty Folk where there is lots of proof that a simple circle block can be done many, many ways.
