Slow (Super Bowl) Sunday Stitching

The 11 days since my last post have been blur.  The gathering of quilters at my house turned out to be a lot of fun and I hated to see the afternoon end.  As no one opened my stash closet, there were no injuries due to avalanches. However, the leftover snacks have been my undoing ever since.

Then, there was the trip to San Antonio to witness our oldest grandson’s formal swearing in ceremony for enlisting in the Marines.  He won’t be called up to Boot Camp until after he completes high school this spring.  The projected date is in late September.   Still, it was a sobering experience.

On the quilting front:  The center for my hexagon quilt is slowly taking shape.  I will work on it and some additional rosettes during the Super Bowl game tonight.  I just hope I remember to lift my head and look at the screen during the commercials rather than the other way around.  The only teams I had any affiliation with have been eliminated.  So, as DH is fond of saying, I don’t have a dog in this race.  The commercials will be my entertainment.

I finished pin basting this Texas Tumbleweed top, a Bonnie Hunter design, and hope to start work on quilting it this week.

Texas Tumbleweeds looks great. I love the homey feel of scrap quilts. I like to quilt them too. The different fabrics keep me interested.

Well Mary, another quilter 'fairly' close by. I live in La Vernia.
I have a blog - doitrightquilter.wordpress.com
Have a great Super Bowl and of course our team the Dallas Cowboys did not win! Darn, but they won awards last night and that was great to see.
Your quilt is so pretty and I am also doing a lot of EPP.

Have a great day!

I have no dog in the race, either; in fact, we may not even watch it. We are hooked on Victoria which has been airing on PBS - tonight she and Albert get married! I love your hexie quilt - I am seeing these in all their varieties lately on the link-ups. As yet, I have only done small things - maybe someday a big one will be in my future. I do have to ask if you are a Dallas Cowboy fan. We are OSU Buckeyes here, and we sure loved watching Zeke Elliot in his rookie year in Dallas.

Kudos to your grandson and the sobering moment I remember very well...middle son joined the National Guard ( I did NOT want him to!! ) and yet it was like...don't worry, no big deal, just doing it for the college money.

In the old days that would be true. But he ended up in Iraq.

Lovely projects here! :) Enjoy your stitching.

The Steelers are not in the Superbowl / I might just watch a movie :) Never into football very much.

I have no team either so have barely been keeping an eye on the screen! Good luck to your grandson -

How proud you must be of your grandson. I only watch the superbowl for the commercials but seems like lately they are not as funny as they use too.
