It’s been “a hot minute” as Julia says, since I posted.
Most sewing room related activity has been a continuation of
producing Anti-Ouch Pouches.
I don’t think I’ve ever shown a picture of one that has been stuffed and ready for gifting. That process is done by a separate group. The pouches are given to patients undergoing breast surgery or biopsies, and can be hung from the shoulder to cushion the surgical site. I understand some patients use them when dealing with seat belts and some even find them helpful when sleeping. They are given out with more stuffing than may be needed but can be sized down if desired. My Tuesday quilting pals insisted I take one. I don’t have breast cancer, but they thought it would be a good cough pillow when I have surgery.
A couple of friends also gifted me with handmade goodies. The hot pink baggie holds the thread spools I most often reach for, and the flowers are made of wood and hand painted. I am enjoying both.
We had some landscaping done in our front yard. Some of the 20-year-old shrubs needed to be replaced and we opted for the river rock mulch many people in our area prefer. Hopefully the new native plants will require less water and less maintenance.
On the cancer front…
I’ve had three infusions.
Earlier this week we spent two days at MD Anderson in Houston for a PET
scan and consultation. The scan results
were highly encouraging and surgery is scheduled later this month. All prayers are appreciated.
