Today’s Slow Sunday Stitching project is a return to the Jill Finley quilt. I am working on the last stretch of applique
and really want to wrap it up. I have to
be careful and pace myself on it as sometimes my wrist protests if I push too
hard on handwork. Gotta take care of our
hands!
Things have been a little noisy at our house since last Thursday
and this is the view when you look outside our front door. This area was repaved in March, 2012, but the
turning radius on the cul-de-sac is so tight that it did not hold up to the stress
from heavy equipment. The city is now
replacing it with concrete.

We were the first homeowners in our subdivision 6 years ago. There has almost always been construction going on, and I rather enjoyed the sound of saws and hammers. The lots are almost all built on now, so the silence has taken a little getting used to. ha!
I don't have much trouble with my hands when I hand quilt ... but I do when I'm piecing my hexie blocks. Getting older isn't for sissies, is it?
Hope your sewing helps you relax
I love your photos and your beautiful applique. Yes we do need to take care of our hands...they do so much for us.
I notice that I have troubles either with wrist on the right hand or thumb on the left if I do too much handwork, yes. have to pace, indeed :)
Enjoy your slow sewing Sunday on your beautiful project! It's hard not to press on when you're hand sewing but sewing in pain isn't a good idea. Take care of yourself!
I'm glad you're getting concrete for your cul de sac... hopefully it will last much longer.
Enjoy your sewing and take care of your hands. I hurt my left hand with too much knitting and crocheting last Christmas and I still can't get my wedding band back on. Doctor can't figure out why it is still a little swollen. Doesn't hurt anymore though. Keep yours healthy. Love the look of that quilt.
Thanks for the reminder to take care of our hands... they are quilters' greatest treasures!
Enjoy your stitching today!
Slow progress is better than no progress. Thanks for the reminder to take it easy on my hands!
I find my hand hurts and swells if I knit too much. I found a glove at Joann's that condenses the hand a little and helps the pain and swelling. I know some people wear it when stitching as well. It might help? Enjoy your slow stitching but remember to take breaks.
