After four delightful days and nights with quilting friends
on retreat, I am gradually reentering the real world. You know, the world of cooking my own meals,
no desserts, and doctor’s scales…that world.
Nonetheless, I’m glad to be home with hubby and the dogs. I made Friday a recovery and reentry day with a very long nap built into the afternoon schedule.
Our first Quilt Club retreat had 28 participants at the Compass Centre in Mt. Calm, Texas. The
center was designed for quilters by a quilter and is run by quilters, so you know it had to be good. We had spacious, L shaped work stations that made it easy to spread out our work. I took my 63 year old Singer 301 and she held her own among some mighty fine new machines!
We also had acres and acres of design wall space, but my
little blocks were so small, I used very little of it. This paper pieced Sue Garman project is going to keep me busy a very long time!
Every day, sometimes twice a day, we were visited by the “quilt
fairy” and everyone won a door prize.
The loot I brought home (some purchased, but mostly gifted) including my
blocks and an emptied spool is below.

Great haul....love that fabric assortment! And your blocks are so perfect.....lots and lots of work, but just so beautiful. You have such patience to do those. Ah, the real world always hits you and the nap sounds like a great way to take your time returning.
Your little blocks are so cute. What pattern are you doing?
Those retreats are very tiring... I wonder why that is lol.
Glad you had a stupendous time! Building in a re-entry day is such a good idea for any trip!
I love your little blocks ... and the fact that they're paper pieced makes them doable in my estimation. What pattern is it? Sounds like you had a perfect retreat location ... and a good time. I agree that a recovery day after any time away from home is a good idea. We got home last night, so I'm going to take a page from your book and make today a recovery day. ;-)
Hi Mary, I just came over from Kathy's blog and so glad she highlighted you today-I'm your newest follower. I'm anxious to get to know you and I love it that you mention your dogs too-I looked at past posts about them, trying to determine what breed you have; looks like a terrier and maybe Corgi. Your retreat sounded wonderful; I used to go on retreats with my next door neighbor in Ca., but since I've moved haven't been to any(Yours sounded so fun). I will be going to Sisters next July. Although I am an avid quilter, I also post about family, dogs etc. Hope you come visit me.
