It was never my intention to abandon my blog for many
months, nor do I intend to give it up. It
has been a helpful diary of my projects, and a bridge connecting me to others
who love to quilt. My silence also does not mean I have stopped quilting. For whatever reason, I just have had neither
the discipline nor energy to hit the keyboard.
Since my last post, I completed this flimsy made up of leftovers from an
earlier red and neutral project. I like
my leftover quilt better than its predecessor.
Leftovers Quilt Top |
Early this year I made up my mind to touch every quilting
book I own and decide which would be donated to the Bits and Pieces booth at
our guild quilt show. We were most
fortunate that our show fell in the first half of February before we knew what
the Corona Virus meant and lockdowns were put in place. Since then, of course, all regular guild
activities have come to a halt, except for email and text chains that help me
stay sane.
Donated Books |
Also saving my life right now is Ollie, who has a lot of
puppy left in him and who definitely claims me as his human. Walks are helping too, as are audio books and
mindless facemask and anti-ouch pouch stitching. Anything that calms me down and makes me feel
productive is good.

Speaking of anti-ouch pouches (for breast surgery patients),
I don’t have the opportunity to pick up kits at guild meetings. So, one of my goals during quarantine is to
touch every piece of yardage in my stash and decide what I will donate to that
cause, then cut and sew it. As a result,
I already have a respectable stack of fabric laundered, pressed and ready to
cut. But my storage shelves are a hot mess.
A neighbor works with stained glass and gave me this lovely
suncatcher. I love butterflies.

Love your "left over" quilt! and glad you are keeping busy. I have you beat....I had not blogged since February of last year! I have managed without too much problem to actually blog twice this week...and today I began looking at my reading list to see if I could find some old friends because I had not just neglected posting but also visiting....Yay for you doing the projects for the Breast cancer survivors!
I love this quilt too and so many times I also have found I liked the "leftovers" quilt better than the planned one.
The flowers are so pretty. We don't have much blooming yet except dandelions.
Hi Mary - glad to hear from you on the post. Love the quilt. We have been through Hell since NY Eve when Clay accidentally shot his left hand...... That turned into 2 hand surgeries and then a heart problem arose, (blessing), then a Heart Cath scheduled for 20 Mar - that did not happen. Finally 1 May it did..... Went to the TVAR (Aorta Valve Replacement through the arteries) doctor...FINALLY 2 June he will get the new Valve. The last 5 months have been a total blur, but after being given a date Thursday for the procedure we feel like life will begin again. All that happened saved his life - can you believe that one! We had a very bad heart doctor who let his Heart Murmur go with out doing the required test. He has no blockages (another blessing) The TVAR procedure requires only an overnight stay if all goes well. He is healthy for his age and was extremely active until the hand issue and of course on the 6th of March he was told SIT and do not do anything to make the heart work hard. We owe BAMC a lot - who would think that shooting yourself in the hand would also save your life?
I have not done much of anything as being caretaker for 80 days then just could not focus. I am glad to hear you are well and safe!
Take care and after Clay is on his feet (which should be within a short period of time in July I am hoping to get the surgery on my eyelids correcting the problem caused by the lovely Cataract surgery in October.
Personally I cannot wait for 2021. LOL. Take care and be save! Hope your hubby is well.
