Slow Stitching on Sunday

I spent a lot of time in hospital waiting rooms last week as hubby underwent surgery.  I thought I would make more progress on hexagons than I did, but at least I did make some.  The neck light was a purchase when I attended Quilt Festival last year. This was a planned surgery and I knew from experience that there was neither enough light nor surface area to work without something like this.  After our Quilt Club President included it in one of her monthly tips, I went on a search for it.  It isn't as good as a nicely positioned task light, of course, but it definitely does the job. I’ll be back today, so I'll have more opportunity to work on them.

The patient is doing great, though in his case the word “patient” does not seem to apply all that well.  I’m linking up to Kathy’s  Slow Stitching Sunday post.

First of all, I'm glad your hubby is doing well after his surgery ... praying for a quick recovery.

I've got a box just like that all packed up for whenever I'll be going anywhere that I'll have time to kill. I need to figure out something so I can take my hexies with me to swim meets ... there just isn't enough room to spread out, so everything has to sit in my lap.

Mary so all went well with your husband's surgery. Planned or not it is a stressful time. I love your little box and a great idea to add lighting as many places don't provide enough.

I am glad to hear that he is doing well and impatience is a good sign of that :)

I bought my mom one of those lights for Christmas and she is finding it very helpful with her stitching. I never get as much done when I am in a stressful situation like a waiting room at a hospital!

Yes the lighting is often an issue when doing hand work. Thanks for the reminder!

Men are never very patient about medical procedures. I hope he heals well and fast.

Hoping for a speedy recovery for your Husband. No matter how much you accomplished, busy hands help keep the mind still. I love the red fabric!

I have one of those lights, I need to put it in my grab and go bag. I don't use it often so I pull the batteries out. I gave it it's own little bag that includes an extra set of batteries.

Hope your husband continues to do well and is soon fighting fit. I love your travelling quilt kit, so well organised and a great way to pass the time while waiting around.

So glad to hear that your husband is doing well. I like the way you have kitted up your quilt project. The light is a good idea.

I just bought myself one of those lights but have not had time to try it yet...no time for stitching. :-(

Glad surgery went well. I have one of those neck lights.... it works great as a 'light box' with my clear extension table to trace things.

Good the surgery went well. Hubbies seldom tolerate being restricted, I think :). I have one of those lights but have some trouble using it as I don't seem to have enough chest to align it right! Happy sewing.
